How can you help
safeguard the future of opera
in New Zealand?
Making a Gift
is a simple process which we can assist with but you might like to consider the following steps to help you on the way:
Seek Legal Advice
We recommend that you seek the advice of a qualified legal professional before reaching any decisions or changing your will. The lawyer will step you through the process and ensure all the legal requirements are met to effectively express and enforce your wishes.
Our experienced trustees are also at hand to answer any general questions you might have.
Gift Options
A Legacy: You may consider leaving in your will a nominated sum for a specific purpose, for example ‘to assist young aspiring New Zealand opera singers’ or other personal preference.
A Residual Legacy: You may want to make a gift of the residue of your estate when all payments have been made and legacies to family or friends have been attended to.
A Gift from a Family Trust: You may wish to instruct the trustee(s) of your family trust to facilitate a gift from the trust to be used for a specific opera purpose or project.
An Existing Will: You may wish to add a codicil to your exiting will.
Explain your wishes to your family and Executor
It is a good idea to talk to your family now about your will and intended gift to avoid any confusion and help them to fulfill your wishes after you have gone. You may also prefer to leave a written statement with your will stating your reasons for giving to charity and in particular to the purpose of supporting opera in New Zealand.
We are here to help you
If you have questions, need a referral to a solicitor or any other help in arranging your bequest, we have dedicated people to assist you. You may have questions about the Foundation, how your gift would be used or how best to specify your wishes in your will.
In all cases, please be assured that any information you provide us with is held in the strictest confidence and no details of your gift will ever be made public unless you expressly ask us to do so and in which way you wish that to be done.
